This colmworth chest of drawers is part of the bedroom, office and living room modular units. It is handmade here in the UK using traditional methods and is part of the new Colmworth modular range which can be fitted next to a run of wardrobes or a dressing table. This piece functions as bedside cabinets and chest of drawers in the bedroom range. They function as drawers and part of a desk in fitted office furniture, part of the office modular range. And also work as part of a media unit for living rooms and a run of fitted bootroom units. But of course this chest of drawers works standalone as well as fitted office, bedroom, boot room or living room furniture. Built using solid pine throughout, handmade using traditional techniques and built to last a lifetime. This chest of drawers would be painted in any colour from the Farrow and Ball range.

If this configuration of units doesn’t suit your requirements then the beauty of the modular design becomes evident, you can choose any of these units to make one run as they all screw together and can create a gorgeous fitted look. Our modular range follows the same new beautiful stepped design of cornice and plinth, the benefit of this is that the units can be stacked on top of each other as well as side to side and the design will work seamlessly.
Please note, the modular units need to sit on a flat level floor. We don’t offer a fitting service.

Is the Farrow and Ball paint finish durable enough for everyday bedroom furniture use?
Farrow and Ball paints are formulated with a high concentration of pigment and quality binders, which gives them a depth of colour that standard trade paints rarely match. When applied correctly to solid pine by an experienced carpenter, the finish is robust enough for everyday use on bedroom furniture. That said, solid wood furniture does respond to its environment, fluctuations in humidity and temperature can cause minor movement in the wood over time, which is entirely normal and a characteristic of solid timber. To keep the painted finish looking fresh, avoid abrasive cleaning products and wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth when needed. If a small area of paintwork does chip or scuff after years of use, touching it up is straightforward provided you know the original Farrow and Ball shade, another reason why choosing your colour carefully from the outset is worth the time. How should I care for a waxed solid pine top to keep it in good condition over the years?
The waxed solid pine top on this chest of drawers is hardwearing but a little routine care will keep it looking its best for decades. Every few months, apply a thin coat of clear furniture wax using a soft cloth, working it in with the grain and then buffing it off once it has had time to absorb. Avoid placing wet glasses or hot items directly on the surface, as pine is more porous than hardwoods and prolonged moisture exposure can leave marks. For day to day cleaning, a lightly dampened cloth followed by an immediate dry wipe is sufficient. Over time, the pine will develop a natural patina that adds genuine character to the piece, this is a feature of solid wood, not a flaw and one of the qualities that sets it apart from any manufactured alternative.
